This is an example of the header off the frankie magazine website. i particularly like the use of hand-drawn imagery, and that the images are similar to those that you cut and use to dress paper dolls.

another example of a grid layout
Composition combining work by Karen Walker and typography by Jessica Hische.
Again using a grid layout to combine all the elements.

These images provide a good example of a grid format for a spread of images inside a magazine. All with the same width border, it combines thought about composition and photography.
idea of a multipage publication
Heres a neat idea of a multipage publication, something like this would work well as a give away inside another document, magazine, goodie bag, the paces are endless.
This combines elements of illustration, type and patterns.
Everything is Research
Iv been thinking about this a lot recently and how all aspects of our lives as designers intertwines together and influence our work. From images i see driving too and from uni each day, to regular blogs i check all of this inspires me and makes me think how can i relate something like this to studio and my work?
- relationship between the typeface and the image/intended purpose of the work?
- possible multi-page layout using both body text and images.
- strong photographic elements.
There is definitely a strong relationship between both type and images in these examples, both include strong photography elements to express ideas about the intended purpose of each layout/composition.
These images are from the superette, ruby boutique and frankie magazine blog which are regular vists for me each day.

beauty of dreams
Image of a series of lightboxes with different quotes in outside albany mall. Funny thing is during the day i never really noticed them but at night they stand out so well.

just a typical lunch..
I was having lunch at a mall and got a little bored and ended up taking these photos and to my surprise they didn't turn out too bad.
Typography
When researching semi-permanent i came across Jessica Hische who is a typographer and illustrator working in Brooklyn, New York. Her typefaces combine imagery and font together in such an interesting and appealing way.
Hische has been featured in most major design and illustration publications including Communication Arts, Print Magazine, How Magazine, The Graphis Design Annual, American Illustration and the Society of Illustrators.
